Refining Life's Ragged Edges

Author

PearlyShells

I seriously hate writing about me. What do you tell people? The customary who I am, where I'm from? Those are all well and fine but gets kinda redundant, doesn't it? If you want to know me, come read a long. I'm an open book - or at least try to be. I try to write a little about everything. I should one day find my niche, one day. I figure, if I keep writing eventually it’ll come. Mostly I write to help inspire. This world can be a pretty damn scary place to live in. The hate crimes. The sexual violence. The bombings and shootings. I want to be able to shed some hope. Even just a sliver. Something to help someone take another step in their day. I started this blog in the hopes I could help change a dark and hatred filled world. I'm not exactly sure I'm actually doing it or not. But, I'm trying. I also write to get the practice I need. Sometimes I’ll be sweet and awe inspiring. Other times I’ll show a bit of my true self with some dripping sarcasm and stupid humor. Then there are other times I just don’t make sense. Bear with me! When you come across my page, please feel free to leave me comments - about anything. Open forum. Open door. Open, open, open. I like having discussions about feelings (ya right) and hearing opinions of others about what I write. And other times, it’s just nice to know that someone out there goes through some of the same things I do. Thanks bunches in taking the time to stop on by! ~Pearls xoxo

Valentine’s Day Ideas

This is the holiday where everyone is lovey dovey and showering people with heart candies and red and pink lace cards. I'm not necessarily about that but I'm all for being sappy (yes fathead, I'll admit it) with my best... Continue Reading →

No Boil Lasagna

Yesterday was a trying day. So, in search of comfort I made comfort food. There is something about making lasagna that makes me so keenly aware of how much I love being in the kitchen. Maybe it's the redundant process... Continue Reading →

The Strength of Family

In Hawaii it is always about family. There is a reason that Lilo made sure Stitch understood that ohana meant family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. There is a reason that Moana, though teaching of courage and... Continue Reading →

Unfinished

I was once told that everyone has a chapter that they don't read out loud. The only thing that I can say to that is #truth. Something will always be unfinished. Always. But, choosing happy is the best thing now. Quiet... Continue Reading →

Busy

Things are a little difficult right now. I feel like I should have been a little more prepared with this 30 day blog blast. I have a bunch of scheduled posts, but everything seems so crazy hectic right now. It's... Continue Reading →

Open Letter to Our Child

As of 9a this past Friday morning we started the journey we long have waited for. Friday morning we sat at a table, with others on the same path as us, learning how to be "caregivers." And tonight we will continue this... Continue Reading →

She Is

It has been a very eventful weekend. I couldn't sleep tonight for many reasons. And so instead I returned home to write. I can't tell you it makes sense. Or that it's even good. Whatever it is, it is. Sometimes I... Continue Reading →

Perfect Hard Boiled Egg

I am definitely not Rachel Ray. Or Gordon Ramsey. Or Giada De Laurentiis. If I had been I could have mastered the act of boiling the perfect hard boiled egg. You got me Kitchen Nightmares. You finally got me. Here... Continue Reading →

Adoption Training

It is here. The journey has officially started. As you read this Jeremy and I are either in class or sitting at home taking everything we learned in. And as I sit here this morning thinking about this entire journey... Continue Reading →
