Refining Life's Ragged Edges

PearlyShells

I seriously hate writing about me. What do you tell people? The customary who I am, where I'm from? Those are all well and fine but gets kinda redundant, doesn't it? If you want to know me, come read a long. I'm an open book - or at least try to be. I try to write a little about everything. I should one day find my niche, one day. I figure, if I keep writing eventually it’ll come. Mostly I write to help inspire. This world can be a pretty damn scary place to live in. The hate crimes. The sexual violence. The bombings and shootings. I want to be able to shed some hope. Even just a sliver. Something to help someone take another step in their day. I started this blog in the hopes I could help change a dark and hatred filled world. I'm not exactly sure I'm actually doing it or not. But, I'm trying. I also write to get the practice I need. Sometimes I’ll be sweet and awe inspiring. Other times I’ll show a bit of my true self with some dripping sarcasm and stupid humor. Then there are other times I just don’t make sense. Bear with me! When you come across my page, please feel free to leave me comments - about anything. Open forum. Open door. Open, open, open. I like having discussions about feelings (ya right) and hearing opinions of others about what I write. And other times, it’s just nice to know that someone out there goes through some of the same things I do. Thanks bunches in taking the time to stop on by! ~Pearls xoxo

City Burden

I have always watched you. This country girl on a hill watching you as you meet the cars with their honking horns. On a hill watching the sun set behind you as it shimmers the strength of your skyscrapers. Your... Continue Reading →

It Starts With A Sneeze

We will return with your show after these messages. Growing up that is the phrase I would often hear. Every Saturday without fail I would sit in front of the television with a bowl of cereal to watch my favorite... Continue Reading →

A New Day

Blood red earth. Blackened skies. People crying out. Over the weekend tragedy once again struck as 50 people lost their lives over a senseless shooting. Over 50 more people were hurt because of inexplicable hate. In the beginning I read reports,... Continue Reading →

Mind your own womb

It has never been easy to answer the "Do you have kids?" or "Why don't you have kids?" questions. This is a perspective I wish others would understand. It is never easy. Be conscious of what you say to woman.... Continue Reading →

Entertaining Strangers

I was asked yesterday what made me want to help people. A plethora of reasons popped in my head and it was hard to explain. The running joke in my house was that I've chosen to give back to others,... Continue Reading →

Today. The Present. The Now.

I am not fond of living in an apartment. First, I don't have my own yard where I feel comfortable letting my dogs run loose to get their exercise. Second, I am a huge fan of music and I always... Continue Reading →

With Playful Eyes

After a long weekend I returned to work not really ready to go. It was hot both indoors and outdoors, my little fan wasn't cutting it, and I'm against a deadline to clear everything up before my office moves to... Continue Reading →

Hers and His

Record heat here in the PNW has everyone in pools, rivers, installing ACs, sitting near fans. And all I've done is sit in front of my computer, notebook, phone to write. The smoothness of my pen, the fluid strike of... Continue Reading →
